In the winter semester 2021/22, we will be looking at the diverse relationships between bodies and fabrics. Thus, the change of time can be seen, among other things, in the change of fashions, fabrics, cuts, colors, textures and patterns. But also current issues such as economy and ecology, climate crisis and gender are closely interwoven with clothing. We express our identity through clothing or disguise ourselves to become another person or cover ourselves to be unrecognized or protected.
We will be collaborating with the MA Costume Design program, Film Costume Design, under the direction of Prof. Lisa Meier. In this context, we will jointly investigate what students understand by the term costume design in film and which cinematic spaces of possibility are opened up by the costume design.
The goal is to deal intensively with the design questions of the moving image and to develop and realize independent audiovisual works. These can be experimental, documentary, essayistic, narrative, performative or interactive formats using real footage, animation techniques, digital post-production or programming.
