ROTOSCOPY - INTRODUCTION INTO A DIGITAL ANIMATION TECHNIQUE

Seminar

Registration from 18.10.2021 via: bewegtbild@medienhaus.udk-berlin.de
The workshop will be held in English.

The animation technique, Rotoscopy, traces over motion picture/video footage, frame by frame, to create realistic effects. But contemporary use of rotoscopy animation is not limited to “reality” and can provide weird levels of mixture. This seminar is an introduction to digital rotoscopy animation and in particular working with digital light pens as the main tool. Though, the course will address the whole process, from preparation for the shooting to different artistic styles and combination with other digital and analogue techniques. We will watch a diverse set of significant examples of rotoscopy animation. The seminar is open to all but is particularly addressed at illustrators, painters, video artists and filmmakers. The participants can work on their own projects during the semester.
